Your First 5 Minutes With AI — One Real Client Email

Type three lines, get a client email you would actually send, then change the one thing that is not quite right.

1

Step 1 — Make Sure You Have These

2

Tell it three things

Open a new chat. You are going to give Claude three things and nothing else: who the email is for, what happened, and what you want to happen next. Replace the bracketed parts with your own situation. Leave out anything private, such as the client's last name or the property address.

PROMPT
Draft a short follow-up email to [FIRST NAME], a [listing agent / homeowner]. We met [WHEN] at [her / his] [PROPERTY DESCRIPTION, e.g. 4-bedroom listing in Summerlin]. We walked [ROOMS DISCUSSED] and [she / he] wants [WHAT THEY ASKED FOR] by [DAY]. Warm, professional, under 120 words. Don't invent details I didn't give you; if you need something, ask.

That last sentence is the important one. Say it every time. It stops Claude from filling gaps with things that sound right but are not true.

3

Read it like a draft, not a verdict

Read the draft the way you would read something a new assistant handed you. The question is not "is this perfect?" It is "what is one thing I would change?" Too long, a word you would never use, a missing date, a line that oversells. There is always one.

4

Ask for one change

Tell it the one thing, in plain words.

PROMPT
Shorter. Drop "[WORD YOU WOULD NEVER SAY]". Add that I'll send the [PROPOSAL / REPORT] on [DAY] so [she / he] has it a day early.

You can ask for a second change if you want. Most emails are done after one.

5

Send it yourself

Select the text, copy it, paste it into a new message in your own email app, add the recipient, and send. Claude drafts. You send. Nothing goes out that you did not read.

Do this with one real email today. Then move on to the next guide, where you stop re-explaining your tone and your business in every chat.
